William Robert "Bill" Van Dolah passed away at Cheney Golden Age Home on March 28, 2017 at the age of 94. Bill was born on September 23, 1922 in Anthony, Kansas to John H. and Margaret (Sanders) Van Dolah. He grew up in Anthony with 4 sisters and a brother and graduated from Anthony High School with the class of 1940.

Enlisting as an Apprentice Seaman with the US Coast Guard on January 30, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, Bill served his country during WWII. His service included time on the MBTS Brooklyn, NY and COTP Duluth, Minnesota as well as being stationed in Vermilion, Ohio, Whitefish Pt., Michigan, and PS#9, St. Louis, Missouri. He was honorably discharged on April 19, 1946 at the rank of Seaman First Class.

On November 27, 1949, Bill was united in marriage with Imogene Kimberlin at the Harper Christian Church. They were blessed with 2 children, Leslie and John and the family lived in Harper. Working for the city of Harper for a number of years, Bill retired as the superintendent of the water department. He was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church. Bill had a passion for clocks in which he would build, repair, and sell.

Preceding Bill in death are his parents, John and Margaret; sisters: Wanda Schantz, Betty Watkins, Joan Van Dolah, and Jean Brown; and brother, Jack Van Dolah. He will be missed by his wife, Imogene of Cheney Golden Age Home; daughter, Leslie Leroux and her husband, Randy of Cheney; son, John Van Dolah of Largo, Florida; 7 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Friends may register and view at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Visitation with the family is 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30th, at the funeral home. Graveside service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Harper Cemetery with Pastor Ed Hughlett officiating. The US Coast Guard Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Memorials may be given to the Cheney Golden Age Home and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
