Wanda Fay Harmon was born March 9, 1946 in Higgins, Texas, one of four daughters born to James and Elizabeth (Cooprider) Sutton. The family moved to Wakita, Oklahoma, in 1952. Wanda graduated from Wakita High School in 1964. After graduating she attended cosmetology school in Enid.
On October 2, 1965, Wanda was united in marriage with Tommy Harmon at the United Methodist Church in Wakita. They made their home in Anthony, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children: Danny, Angela, and Nancy. Sadly Danny passed away at age 3.
Wanda worked as a beautician with Tommy Brown, at Rexall's and for Anthony Farmer's Coop. She also sold Sarah Coventry for many years. She spent her later years as a homemaker.
Wanda and Tom enjoyed joining friends and community members for weekends of fun show rodeo. They shared a passion for rodeo and looked forward to attending the NFR with friends. She was an avid reader, fantastic cook, talented quilter, and spent many hours making crewel embroidery. Family was important to Wanda and there were many nights spent around the kitchen table playing cards and dominoes. One year she and Tom sponsored a foreign exchange student, Bjorn, from Germany. They formed a lasting bond and he returned to visit them often throughout the years.
Wanda was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandsons were her absolute favorite! The boys were her world and she cherished every second she got to spend with them.
On August 11, 2020, Wanda passed away at Patterson Health Center at the age of 74 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny; and sisters, Susie Bonham and Gayle Woodson.
Wanda will be deeply missed by her husband, Tom; daughters: Angela Dvorak and husband, Duane, and Nancy Richardson and husband, Jared; sister, Joy Gideon and husband, Steve; 2 grandsons whom she adored, Gabriel and Gage Richardson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
