Walter Joseph Hunt Jr. was born November 27, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas, son of Walter Joseph Sr. and Mary Lou (Patterson) Hunt. He lived in many cities throughout his youth until his family moved back to Wichita when he was in the 9th grade. He graduated from Wichita East High in 1967. After graduation he attended Wichita Business College. During this time he worked at Southwest Paper Company and served on the Sedgwick County Fire Department and Sherriff's Office for a short time.
In 1970, Jr. moved to Anthony and began working at Anthony Floral Greenhouse for his parents. On March 20, 1970, Jr. was united in marriage with Debbie Bonham at the Burchfiel United Methodist Church south of Anthony, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children: Bridgette, Elizabeth, Jessica and Jay.
Jr. soon began his own business, Brelco Electronics, selling televisions and appliances. A few years later he renamed the business Pro-Comm Systems and began focusing on two-way radios and scanners. In 2010, due to his love of guns, he changed his business again, opening JRH Guns.
Jr. served on the Anthony Community Care Center Board of Directors as President of and was a 2nd Degree Mason.
On December 14, 2018, Jr. passed away at the age of 70 years and 17 days. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jr. will be deeply missed by his wife, Debbie; children: Bridgette Hendrick and husband, Andy, Elizabeth Nordwall and husband, Jason, Jessica Hughes and husband, Greg, and Jay Hunt and wife, Kandace; 10 grandchildren: John Jr. Blick, Elaina Blick, Coady Blick, Mylie Blick, Rowan Nordwall, Hudson Nordwall, Gregory Hughes, Jaylen Hughes, Jax Hunt and Silas Hunt; 2 great-grandchildren: John Trae Blick and Brazen Blick; siblings: Carolyn Sharp, Myrna McGee and John Hunt; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
Visitation with the family will be held 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.
Memorials in memory of Jr. may be made to the Anthony Community Care Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
