Obituary

Vietta Faye Easley, 92 was born July 24, 1927 in Lawrenceville, Illinois and peacefully left her Harper home in the evening of March 20, 2020.  Born to William "Bryan" Ikeler and Gladys Marie Sullivan, Vie was the eldest of three, holding great responsibility as she came of age and graduated high school during WWII.  Following the war, she met and married Navy Yeoman Glenn William Easley on January 14, 1951 in Salem, Illinois.  Glen would become an oilman, working for Mobile throughout the Mid-west, while Vie worked her way to becoming a knowledgeable bookkeeper and business manager of a Best Western/Stuckey's, and cook, sharing this skill with the Harper hospital during the 1960s.

Together, Vie and Glen raised three children in Harper, Kansas.  Connie Easley, proprietor of Connie's Beauty Shop, Harper; David "Corky" Easley of Harper, who followed his father's career interests, becoming a petroleum engineer; and Yanina "Nina" (Delvin) Noland, a Registered Nurse of Lufkin, Texas.

Vietta eventually retired with her husband to their home just east of Harper where she was devoted to shaping her five grandchildren.  Vie always had her eye on the future, instilling the importance of technology in those around her, she was one of the first to have a home computer, the Tandy 3000.  An afternoon with a grandchild meant time spent browsing Radio Shack or perfecting the art of canning fruits and vegetables.  She was proud of her resourcefulness and valued healing secrets and natural remedies.  She was also an accomplished seamstress and practiced detailed "handwork" during her downtime from her matriarchal duties.

Preceding Vie in death are both of her parents; husband Glen; son "Corky", brothers Kenneth and J.B. Ikeler; nephews Teddy and Gary Ikeler; niece Terri Thompson; and close friend Jack Cochran.

Vie is survived by her daughters Connie and Nina; grandchildren: Yolanda (Charles) Jordan of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Todd (Cybil) Zimmer of Wichita, Kansas, Nick (Lauren) Noland of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Tyler Easley of Wichita, David (Felisha) Noland of Argonia, Kansas; nieces and nephews: Lynn and Linda Gaston of Arizona, Ron and Carol Chapman of Arizona, Kim Bacon of Illinois, Kelly Perry of Arizona, Jim Ikeler of Oklahoma; and 15 great-grandchildren.
