Obituary

Vada Jean Etherton was born July 6, 1930 to Edith and Austin Etherton in Buffalo, Oklahoma. She passed away at the Anthony Medical Center on April 3, 2019 at the age of 88 years.

As a child she grew up on her family farm north of Buffalo where she and her siblings spent their summer afternoons swimming in the horse tank and laying on blankets in the shade watching the clouds to see what shapes they could find. Her love for the summer sunshine followed her throughout her life as you could always find her outside working in her yard.

Vada graduated from Buffalo High School and later married Guy Randolph. They were blessed with three children, Rick, Judy and Tami. During that time Vada worked as a secretary at the FSA office in Buffalo.

Later on in life, Vada married Erwin Peterson on July 3, 1964. The family moved to Anthony in June of 1969 where Vada worked in the dental office with her husband for many years.

She was a member of the Anthony Church of Christ and a devoted Christian. Momo and Popo as they were lovingly referred to by their grandkids always made it a point to get their grandchildren to church every Sunday. It was important for them to instill Gods faith into their grandchildren. Vada always showed her faith in God by following his word and doing his will.

Vada is preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Edith Etherton; brother, Austin Jr.; sister, Ilda Steward; and grandson, Michael Randolph.

Vada will be deeply missed by her husband, Erwin; son, Rick Randolph; daughters: Judy Pfeifer and husband, Mark, and Tami Walker and husband, Steve; stepdaughters: Nina Horn and husband, Dale, Nancy Bross and husband, Rex, and Lisa Batt and husband, Darren; stepson, Larry Randolph and wife, Kim; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, Kansas.

Friends may register 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials in memory of Vada may be made to the Puppy Jake Foundation (Service Dogs for Veterans) or to the Church of Christ and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003, is in charge of arrangements.
