Travis D. Young passed away peacefully at home November 2, 2021 at age 46.
Travis was born March 17, 1975 in Enid, Oklahoma, to parents Phil and Susie Young, and brother Kevin.
A 1993 Chaparral High graduate he was involved in many activities, Key Club, TSA, Debate, and manager for the boys' basketball team. Travis went on to study Construction Engineering at Pittsburg State.
Travis had a zest for life and a bit of wonderlust. At 21 he went to truck driving school and got his CDL. Driving cross country for Swift he enjoyed seeing new places, meeting new people, and experiencing life on the road. Travis returned home after 2 years and worked construction alongside his father, Phil. Woodworking was his passion and he enjoyed learning and working construction with Phil. Many around are familiar with their handiwork including the Ark at Higher Grounds & Leather Bounds. As local construction jobs dwindled Travis returned to truck driving to provide for his family, driving for B&B Equipment and then grain hauling for Landforce LLC.
In December 2000, Travis fell in love and in August 2001 married the love of his life, Kay, and this union blessed him with two sons, Dalton and Wade.
Travis thrived being a father and he greatly enjoyed being involved in the boys' activities, coaching and helping with recreation sports, soccer, flag football, and baseball, as well as going on adventures with the Scout groups and Revolution Church youth program. Travis lived for time at Wheat State Church Camp as a life coach in the summer. Watching the Lord work in the spirit of kids always filled his faith anew.
Travis is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eldon and Helen Young and Clifford and Margaret Kenworthy.
Travis is survived by his mother, Susie; father, Phil; brother, Kevin (Mallory); wife, Kay; sons: Dalton and Wade; and several nephews. He will be greatly missed by a host of family and many friends.
