Thomas W. Wedman, son of Joseph Michael and Dorothy Belle (Clements) Wedman was born May 26, 1929 at the family farm in Danville, KS, where he was raised.  He attended St. Rose Academy of Danville and graduated from Harper High School with the class of 1947.  He attended two years of college at St. Benedict's in Atchison, KS and Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS.

On October 22, 1949, Tom was united in marriage to Georgia Laverne Hall in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Danville.  To this marriage four children were born: Mike, Scott, Sue, and Jeanne.

Tom and Georgia lived near Harper on a small farm.  In 1954 he was hired by Boeing of Wichita as a facilities planner.  In 1956 he was hired by Martin Marietta and the family moved to Denver Colorado.  Originally hired as a draftsman, Tom advanced his talents and became a ground design engineer.  In his 18 year career with Martin, he was on the design team for the Titan I, Titan II, and Titan III missiles and Sky Lab; as well as a two year stint when the family moved to Argonia, KS, where he was involved with placement and operation of the Titan II missiles in silos throughout the Wichita area.

In 1974 the family moved back to Harper and Tom founded Green Line Inc. along with Howard Short (a high school classmate) and they designed and manufactured Big G farm implements.  Becoming the sole owners several years later, Tom and Georgia sold implements all over the world.  He also began farming and ranching once again.  In 1980 he began a contract farming business in Florida which he operated for 5 years.  In 1981 he became owner of Wedman Ford, which the family operated for 20 years with a second dealership in Medicine Lodge.  In 1992 along with son Mike, they began a land development business in Costa Rica.

Tom and Georgia enjoyed traveling throughout the world, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines , Costa Rica, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as many of the other states.  They were avid card players with Bridge being their favorite game.  Having obtained his pilot's license at the age of 16 Tom was an active pilot for many years.

After a 14 month battle with cancer, Tom passed away on June 11, 2018 at the family home in Harper at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leonard J. Wedman.

Tom will be deeply missed by his wife of 68 years, Georgia Wedman of Harper; children: Mike Wedman (Gabby) of Harper, Scott Wedman (Kim) of Kansas City, Missouri, Sue Brittenham (Steve) of Longmont, Colorado, Jeanne Jelinek (Jeff) of Danville, Kansas; brother, Roger Wedman (Deloris) of Danville;  Sisters: Margaret Wedman of Littleton, Colorado and Marilyn Mackey of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Blondie Wedman of Danville; brother-in-law, Wes Hall of Harper; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rosary is 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 and Funeral Mass is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June, 16, 2018, both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Danville, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community with Father Michael Peltzer officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, south of Danville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Good Shepherd Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
