Sylvia Marie Miller was born April 11, 1925 at Rago, Kansas, daughter of Joseph W. and Florence (Flowers) Raida. She attended Valley Grade School in Rago before attending Adams Grade School graduating from Adams High School in 1942.
After graduating, Sylvia went to work at Boeing in Wichita until September of 1944.
On September 11, 1944, Sylvia was united in marriage with Harold Edwin "Hal" Miller. They moved to Beaver Falls, New York, Hal's hometown, where Sylvia worked at Beaverite Paper Products.
They moved to Harper and both worked for Boeing in the 1950's. In 1959, they were blessed with one son, Brad Allan. Sylvia worked for the First National Bank for almost 20 years before retiring. She then worked part-time at the Harper Pharmacy and Anthony Golf Course. In October of 2010, she moved to Anthony.
Sylvia truly enjoyed attending and cheering for her grandchildren's varied athletic activities! From summer recreation t-ball, softball and baseball on through all their several high school sports, and continued to be a Chaparral fan. For many years, Sylvia looked forward to weekly Bingo nights at Harper's American Legion Hall and socializing with her many friends, young and old.
On March 25, 2018, Sylvia passed away at the Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal on August 15, 1988; her parents; six siblings: Joe, Marshall, Marlan and Carl Raida and Dorothy Angle and Ruby Mayberry; and 10 half siblings.
Sylvia will be deeply missed by her son, Brad Miller and wife, Sherri; grandchildren: Keegan Miller and wife, Samantha and Hayley Miller; several nieces and nephews; her Anthony Community Care Center family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
