Suzanne Mary Moyer, 82, of Anthony, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2025, at Patterson Health Center. Born on July 10, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Edward and Marie (Simon) Schmidt.
Sue's love of learning and dedication to education were evident throughout her life. She attended Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, Texas, before transferring to Oklahoma State University, where she became a proud member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She later earned her Master's in Education from Ball State University and spent 36 years as a devoted elementary teacher. Exceptionally organized and passionate about her students, Sue meticulously prepared her classroom and rarely missed a day of school.
An avid reader, Sue had an extraordinary memory for historical dates and was a walking dictionary when it came to spelling. Her love of knowledge extended beyond books to antiques, especially patterned glass. She had an impeccable eye for treasures, whether at an auction or a hidden antique store, and she delighted in collecting unique pieces, including Depression glass, antique toys, dollhouses, paper fans, framed portraits of U.S. Presidents, and Willa Cather books.
Sue's adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively, visiting 23 foreign countries and numerous states across the U.S. She was also a proud member of PEO, cherishing the friendships and connections she built.
Above all, Sue adored her family. She was the heart of every gathering, always eager to be in the middle of the action and deeply invested in the lives of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She and her beloved husband, Bill, shared a beautiful love story that began at Oklahoma State, where he first saw her at church and was instantly captivated. They married on August 22, 1964, and built a life together in Manhattan, Kansas, before moving to Hutchinson in 1989 and later to Anthony in 2022.
Sue will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Bill Moyer of Anthony, KS; her son, Steve Moyer, and his wife, Karol, of Oak Grove, MO; her daughter, Sheri Francis, and her husband, Mike, of Anthony, KS; and her five cherished grandchildren: Austin and Hannah Moyer and Elizabeth, Sophie, and Jack Francis.
Her family will always remember her love of vanilla ice cream—plain, with no toppings, much to her grandchildren's disbelief—as well as her sweet tooth for cookies, often sneaking into the kitchen at night for an extra treat. She was stylish and impeccably put together, from her clothes and accessories to her hair and makeup. She loved dancing—especially stealing the spotlight during the Twist—and could always be counted on to bring her sought-after sugar cookies to family gatherings.
A woman of faith, Sue never missed Sunday Mass, no matter where she was traveling. She was a loyal friend, a dedicated teacher, a loving wife and mother, and a proud grandmother who never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren in their activities, from ice skating and twirling to basketball and barrel racing.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anthony, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, followed by interment at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony.
Friends and family may visit at the Prairie Rose Funeral Home on Friday from 9 AM-6 PM, with family present from 4-6 PM.

Sue's warmth, intelligence, and unwavering love for her family will forever be cherished. She was small in stature—only 4'11"—but had the biggest heart. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
