Steven Ray Strauch-Yoder was born in Binghamton, New York on August 28, 1991.  He came into this world on his own terms, and he left on his own terms.  Born prematurely, with every odd stacked against him, he overcame them all to become the strong, independent, funny guy we all knew and loved.  A brain aneurysm took him unexpectedly on June 2, 2025.

Steven married the absolute love of his life, Holly Hunt, on September 16, 2022, and together they share three incredible children: Parker (9), Olivia (7), and Kellen (1½).

He loved all things outdoors and was especially looking forward to camping with his kiddos this summer.  He was an avid hunter and gun enthusiast—he could talk for hours about guns and their uses.  A movie buff (especially horror) and gamer, Steven and Holly's preferred style of communication was quoting movie one-liners!  He was quick-witted, intelligent, and hardworking.

If you were lucky enough to see behind his armor, you would have seen a man who loved his family deeply and worked hard to provide for them.  Holly, Parker, Olivia, and Kellen were Steven's world, and he would do anything for them.  He was a talented craftsman who loved tinkering with vehicles, woodworking, and making home improvements.  A master lyricist, he could easily memorize any song he loved.  There wasn't a movie he couldn't quote or a game he couldn't win.  If something caught his interest, he would dive in until he mastered it.

Steven loved music of all kinds but had a special affinity for hard rock.  He and his mom shared a special connection through music, often exchanging songs, videos, and lyrics.  Though he kept a small circle, he had a huge heart.

Steven's love languages included sarcasm and witty retorts.  Family game nights often turned into family roasts.  He and his sisters, Ashli and Emily, often joked about their mom's cooking—especially "Bab's burned biscuits"—and teased her relentlessly!

Steven had a huge presence and personality, and he cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs.  He was big, loud, funny, smart, opinionated, loving, intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated.  His passing was sudden, and his absence will be felt for a lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his PaPa, Raymond Flagg; maternal grandparents Kathy and Bill Hatcher; and paternal grandmother, Holly Rychlewski.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Holly, and children, Parker, Olivia, and Kellen, of Attica, Kansas; his mom, Ellen, and her partner, Travis, of Harper, Kansas; his Uncle Michael and Aunt Liz of Attica; his sisters Ashli (husband Shae and daughter Lexington) of Dallas, Texas, and Emily (husband Austin and daughters Cohen and Bradli) of Harper; his paternal grandfather, Walter Rychlewski, of DeSoto, Texas; and maternal grandmother, Patricia Hatcher, of Capron, Virginia.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Steven's Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Gary and Shannon Ummel, 1115 Spruce, Harper, KS, on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Please come and go between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Steven was a lover of all things camo, so you are encouraged to dress accordingly.
