Stephen Craig Reneau, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025, surrounded by family in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on Sunday, November 23, 1947, to Sam and Velma Reneau on the family farm in Clyde, OK, where he was raised. One of nine children, Stephen was known for his love of family and friends, a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, classic cars, and time spent at the lake.
Stephen attended Medford Public Schools and was a graduate of the MHS class of 1966. Soon after, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Sue Fowler. He served in the National Guard and worked briefly for Orkin Pest control. While Steve and Carolyn did not remain married, they always remained friends raising their two children together. Steve spent the majority of his working years with Conoco Pipeline in both Glenpool and Medford. He met and married his second wife, Diana Torix while living in the Tulsa area. She returned to Medford with Steve along with her three children, Jerry, Debbie, and Mike where they attended school for many years. Diana ran the bar downtown that Steve owned for quite a few of those years. She moved back to the Tulsa area after they divorced. Steve remained in the Medford/Wakita/Anthony area where he enjoyed a decades long relationship of both friendship and companionship with Gale Hill.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Downing, and her husband, Kevin, of Garfield, Arkansas, along with their five children: Kellen, Harley, Sydney, Hayden, and Piper. He is also survived by his son, David Reneau, and his wife, Amy, of Haskell, Oklahoma, along with their four children: Kerstin, Kaytlyn, Kimberlyn, and Kamryn.
Steve is further survived by his brothers Joe, Merlin, and Paul Reneau, his girlfriend Gale Hill of Anthony, Kansas, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Velma Reneau, Sam's second wife Lythene, siblings Winston, Philip, and Ellis Reneau, Elaine Snow, and Lavonne Cox, and a nephew, Christopher Snow. Steve was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Reith, and his second wife, Diana Torix.
Steve valued connection with family and friends above all else. He always had your back or would certainly give you the shirt off his. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved unconditionally.
A viewing will be held on March 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E Main St, Anthony, Kansas 67003.
