Shirley Ann Baker was born on March 14, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas to Alban George Niemann and Helen Allene (Leader) Niemann.  The youngest of three children, she attended kindergarten through high school in Attica, Kansas, graduating with the class of 1971.

Shirley married John Baker on June 26, 1971.  This union was blessed with two sons, Jason and Jarold.  A homemaker, wife, and mother, she also worked outside the home for Dr. Stone.  After his retirement, Shirley went to work for Chaparral High School as the counselor/secretary.  She retired after 29 years.

With a great love for children, Shirley had an attachment to every student that came through her office.  She especially loved her own children and grandchildren and would go to great lengths to make them happy.

Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1983.  She taught Sunday school classes and worked with the youth in the Awana program.  She would often say that the kids taught her more than she taught them.

At the age of 67, Shirley passed away on January 25, 2021.  She is survived by her husband, John of the home; son, Jason Baker of rural Harper, Kansas; grandchildren, Jordan and Savannah; sister, Judy Mans and husband, Larry of Attica; sister-in-law, Jan Greeson of Bentonville, Arkansas; nieces and nephews: Michelle Kuhn and husband, Kelly of Wichita; Clint Mans and wife, Christy of Attica; Angela Arnold and husband, Craig of Rogers, Arkansas; Jeff Ollek of San Jose, California, and Nick Mark and wife, Elizabeth of Glendale, Arizona; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Alban and Helen, Niemann; father and mother-in-law, Merle and Loyce Baker; beloved son, Jarold Earl Baker; brother, David Niemann; brother-in-law, Tom Greeson; and sister-in-law Rebecca Ollek.

Viewing and registration is Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Harper with family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Faith Baptist Church in Attica with Brother Jason Byars and Brother Ed Hughlett officiating.  Please wear protective face covering if able to do so.  The church will live stream the service on their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/1611Faith/?rf=1667795356818562  Graveside Service will immediately follow at the Attica Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Church and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
