Shawn Lee Harding was born on June 17, 1957 in Harper Kansas, the son of Lloyd Tommy and Rose Arlene (Wohlschlegel) Harding. The family made their home in Harper, where Shawn attended grade school before going on to Chaparral High School.  Excelling in track as a runner, he also enjoyed baseball, basketball, and football.

After high school, Shawn worked for the Barkers' Custom Cutting crew for six years.  He then worked for a few businesses in Harper before going to work at Asplundh Tree Service.  Shawn worked for Asplundh for several years working his way up to foreman of a crew.

On June 5, 1988, Shawn married Charlotte Hixson out by the Wohlschlegel pond near Harper.  The couple resided in Harper with varying combinations of their 7 children.

Shawn's hobbies included driving the back roads of Harper County, watching traffic from the back porch, and talking to friends at the Copper Lounge.  He enjoyed watching the grandkids play in the yard and watching Dallas Cowboys football.  He spent the last few years traveling with Charlotte to Montana, Wyoming, California, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, and South Dakota.

Shawn battled cancer in 2020.  Overcoming cancer Shawn still struggled with his health.  He passed away June 17, 2025 surrounded by family in Wichita Kansas.  He is proceeded in death by his father, Lloyd Harding; mother, Rose (Wohlschlegel) Washburn and stepfather, Guy Washburn; and granddaughter Rhylee Harding.  Shawn is survived by his wife, Charlotte of the home; children: Amber Harding of Wichita, Kansas, Michael Harding (Emily) of Honeywell, Kansas, Matthew Harding (Kinsey Nemecheck) of Wichita, Carrie Kelly (Michael) of Norwich, Kansas, Cassie Bohrer (Sedrick Woods) of Haysville, Kansas, Shelby Heitz (Jason) of Topeka, Kansas, and Shalie Byers (Bryan) of Udall, Kansas; siblings: Eliane Armstrong, Joe Harding (Mary Ellen), Shelle Mathes (Ron), and Troy Harding (Jan), all of Harper; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Graveside Service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Harper Cemetery with Roy Jacobs officiating.
