Sharon Jae Grubb was born May 13, 1943 in Anthony, Kansas.  She grew up on the family farm with her parents, Maynard C. and Lavonne (Gates) Grubb, sister, Tana, and half-sister, Rhonda. She attended Spring school and Anthony High School for a short time before transferring to Manchester so she could play basketball. She attended college in Greeley, Colorado, receiving her teaching degree in science.

After receiving her degree, Sharon moved to Inglewood, California where she began her teaching career.  Shortly after she went to work for the military, working on bases overseas, as a science teacher and then, dorm monitor, and enjoyed experiencing life in places such as Libya, Turkey, England, and Germany.

Upon returning to the States, she began working as a computer consultant, eventually settling in Austin, Texas, where she lived fairly close to her sister, Tana.

After retiring, Sharon returned to Anthony, Kansas, reacquainting herself with friends and family.  She was fortunate to be very close to her Gates cousins, Nancy and Rex.

On December 23, 2025, Sharon passed away, at the age of 82, while residing at Park West Plaza Memory Care in Wichita, Kansas.

A truly unique and interesting individual, she will be missed by family and friends.

Sharon will be laid to rest with her mother, sister, and grandparents in Spring Grove Cemetery.

There will be a private gathering at Spring Grove Cemetery on Thursday, June 18, 2026.  A public gathering for family and friends will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Idle Hour in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Sharon may be payable to the ASPCA and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
