Sammie F. Otis was born January 23, 1933 in Anthony, Kansas, son of Elmer and Mildred (Johnson) Otis. He graduated from Anthony High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.

On November 22, 1952, Sammie was united in marriage with Lee Ann Campbell. They made their home in Anthony, where they raised three daughters: Terry, Connie, and Dallas.

Sammie worked as an auto body man for Roach Chevrolet for many years before opening Sam's Body Shop in Anthony. He was an active member of Retreads Motorcycle Club. He and Lee Ann loved to vacation and travel, their favorite places being Dollywood and the Smokey Mountains. After retiring, Sammie enjoyed meeting and visiting with his friends at McDonald's and Friendship Meals.

On September 2, 2018, Sammie passed away at the Anthony Medical Center at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer; and wife, Lee Ann.

Sammie will be deeply missed by his daughters: Terry Dale, Connie Spencer, and Dallas Nicholson; grandchildren: Hannah Laspisa and Dalton Dale; 4 great-grandchildren; nephew, Donnie Otis; niece, Rita Stevens; and many friends.

Cremation has taken place and private services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anthony Senior Citizens and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
