RoseMary (Harris) Briggs was born on May 16, 1936 to Walter Harris and Rose (Mendon) Harris.  She was the youngest of three children.  RoseMary grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, where she met Howard Joseph Briggs.  Shortly after her graduation from Bishop Ward High School, the couple married on June 5, 1954.

Howard's job with the Santa Fe Railroad gave the couple ample opportunities to move, living in Topeka, Wichita, Chicago, and back to Kansas City, making many lifelong friends.  During these moves RoseMary was a housewife and raised five children: Laura, Joseph, David, Brian, and Elizabeth.  The couples final move was to Harper in 1999.

RoseMary loved to sew and quilt for her friends and family.  From formal gowns to baby clothes, holiday quilts to curtains and upholstery, there was very little she couldn't do.  She would often take her sewing projects to Colorado, where she loved to visit every summer.  RoseMary fished with the best of them but enjoyed a drive in the mountains to view the beautiful scenery, most of all.

Next to Colorado, RoseMary enjoyed being in her own beautiful home to entertain family and friends.  Her true passion was being together, bringing fun and laughter with her quick wit.  Her sharp sense of humor, fierce love of family and friends, will be sorely missed.

It was in this home, at the age of 83, RoseMary passed away on September 27, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rose Harris; her two brothers, Bill and Buck Harris; and her son David W. Briggs.  She is survived by her husband, Howard J. Briggs; her children: Laura Stewart of Harper, Joseph Briggs and wife Beth of Wichita, Brian Briggs of Harper, and Elizabeth Sutton and husband Ron of Wichita; 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place.  Friends may register from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper with Pastor Royce Vogt officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church Piece Makers or the American Cancer Society and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
