Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Meyer was born on January 22 ^nd , 1943 at the Anthony Hospital in Anthony, Kansas to Forrest Arnot Meyer and Margaret Elizabeth (Kerley) Meyer. Ronnie was the third youngest of four children, Charles Ray (eldest), Jeannie, and Janet Sue (youngest). He grew up in a loving home and spent most of his younger days playing with siblings.

Ronnie attended Bluff City grade school and then transferred to Anthony to attend school where he would become a Pirate. He was well known for his athleticism growing up, especially in baseball, basketball, and football. He played a lot of "PIG" growing up and we have yet to hear of a time he got beat. He excelled in sports and upon graduating from Anthony High School, he signed with Emporia to play baseball. After one semester at Emporia, he decided it was time to return to the farm.

Ronnie built a homestead in Anthony, Kansas upon his return where he eventually built his home. He was later blessed with two sons and a daughter, Tyler Vance Meyer (1962), Billy Joe Meyer (1966), and Ronda Leigh (Meyer) Robinson (1972). He adored his children. He loved to watch them play baseball. He also enjoyed practicing with them outside after a long day of work.

He worked many hours on the farm alongside his father. He would work from dawn till dusk and always was willing to help a neighbor. In fact, many times if a family member wasn't finished cutting wheat, he would already be headed to their field to help without even having to make a phone call. Later, he enjoyed driving a truck on the open road. Ronnie sold his farm a few years ago and decided to retire. However, he always truly missed driving the truck and farming the land.

Ronnie enjoyed his down time on the green and playing sports was a favorite past time of his. Often, you could find him early in the mornings enjoying coffee with his friends (the place changed throughout the years from Nelson's to Shepherds). He could also be found most evenings at the Idle Hour with some of his greatest friends. He enjoyed playing cards and talking a spell. He loved to listen to the jukebox and loved old country music.

Ronnie suffered many ailments over the last decade, but the hardest battle he had was attending dialysis three times a week for the last eight years. He made many friends that seemed like family at the dialysis center. He made the long drive himself to and from dialysis most of the time, except for when it snowed and then he would ride with his brother-in-law, Bill Arnold. Dialysis, although tough, was what he knew he needed to do to continue to be there for his family. After his sister died on November 14 ^th , 2022, he decided his battle was over. He was ready to finally rest. He passed away peacefully in his home with family surrounding him on November 17 ^th , 2022 (his elder sister's birthday).

He loved many things in life but loved his family the most. He especially adored his children and grandchildren. Family was everything to him. He is preceded in death by his mother (Margaret), father (Forrest), sister (Jeannie), sister (Janet Sue), brother-in-law (Bill Arnold), sister-in-law (Wanda Meyer), brother-in-law (John Frisk), and son (Billy Joe). He will be missed by his two remaining children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Pastor Kent Olds officiating.  Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the Idle Hour following the services around 1:00 p.m.

Viewing and registry will be held 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.
