It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Ronald Dean Woodring.  Dean went peacefully to be with our Lord, surrounded by his family, at the Harper Hospital on March 15, 2018, at the age of 70.

Dean was born on April 18, 1947 in Anthony, Kansas.  He was the second of Raymond and Nelda (Shreeve) Woodring's three sons.  Dean proudly served our nation as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and later in life as a Firefighter for the Hutchinson, Kansas Fire Department.  In 1966, he was joined in marriage to Tereasa Diane Norton in Abilene, Texas.  Dean and Tereasa were parents to two daughters and moved to Harper, Kansas. in 1979, where he worked at the Anthony Farmers Coop for many years.  Following his employment at the Coop, Dean began working in Pest Control for Ecolab.  He had a servant's heart and, with the help of his family, raised thousands of dollars over the last 25 years for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in memory of his mother-in-law, Ruby Norton.  Dean was baptized and began his walk with Christ at the East Side Church of Christ in Harper where he attended weekly services until his health rendered him unable.

In his spare time, he had a passion for boating, fishing, camping and many other outdoor activities.  He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed spending time on the open road and was an active member of the American Legion Jeff Long Post #104.  He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as Deedee.  Some of his greatest joys were playing practical jokes on his friends and getting under the skin of his sons-in-law.  Additionally, he spent many quality hours with his friends over a morning cup of coffee and Saturday Night Bingo.

Dean was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Woodring, his mother, Nelda Woodring, and his eldest brother, Allen Woodring.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Tereasa Woodring (Harper), his brother, Lester Woodring (California), his daughters, Shelly Earls (Harper) and Christie Lechner (Wichita), his sons-in-law, David Earls (Harper) and Brad Lechner (Wichita), his grandchildren Brittiny Earls, Allie Woods, Mitch Woods and Joshua Earls (Harper), and Sean Lechner and Kaloni Lechner (Wichita), as well as his great-grandchildren; Sebastian Lechner, Oliver Lechner and Willow Lechner (Wichita) and Parker Earls (Harper).  Those who knew him, loved him.  He will truly be missed.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service is at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper with Mr. Eddie Barber officiating.  Interment will follow at the Harper Cemetery with military honors provided by the McConnell Air Force Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
