Rodney K. Hewitt was born June 3, 1934 on the family farm near Attica, Kansas, son of Jess and Thelma (Shroyer) Hewitt. He grew up with his brothers, Larry, Jack and Steve, and sister, Wanda. He attended school through the eighth grade before beginning to work on the farm.

Rodney loved farming. He worked on farms most of his life. He loved being outdoors and was an animal lover, especially of horses and "his" dog, JJ. A Christian at heart, he had faith in the Lord.

On February 13, 2018, Rodney passed away at the Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry and Jack; and sister, Wanda Charles.

Rodney will be deeply missed by his brother, Steve Hewitt; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and friend, Jim Arnett and his family.


Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Hazelton, KS.

Friends may register 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
