Rodney Wray Angle was born September 23 1947 to Dorothy (Raida) and Lewis "Jack" Angle. Rod was born in Anthony, Kansas where he made his home until his death, passing away of organ failure March 16, 2023 in St Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS at the age of 75 years.
Rod always had a good childhood and said his era had the best music (he loved Elvis) and best cars.
Rod was a hard-working man and kept himself busy with his many hobbies from hunting, trapping, fishing, and tending to chickens. Making many lifelong friends along the way who he treasured dearly.
After graduating from Anthony High School (Class of 1965), Rod was employed at the Southern Kansas Produce until he was drafted into the US Army. He did his basic and AIT training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO then was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia, before doing a tour in Vietnam.
After returning from the war he returned to work at SKP where he met his soon to be wife Martha (Schulte) – and to this union two children were born: Kristie and Jerry.
In 1973 Rod was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer which he battled and beat.
He was also employed at Jayco (alongside his lifetime friend and brother-in-law Little Rod who he shared a deep bond with to his dying day) Later working at the City of Anthony becoming caretaker and Game Warden at the Anthony Lake and 28 years working for the Harper County Road and Bridge until his retirement.
Rod was married to Mary Moler whose brother Jimmy was one of Rod's lifelong friends.
And in April 2000 Rod married Maria Hogan the love of his life. They enjoyed several years together going to flea markets and tending chickens. This union blessed Rod with two step children: Gena and Kay.
Rod leaves behind a host of family and friends.
Preceding him in death is his parents, Jack and Dorothy Angle; his wife, Maria; and grandchildren: Tanner and MaKinze Angle.
Surviving him are his sister Judy Dent; son, Jerry Angle and partner Tiffany Angle of Anthony Kansas; daughter, Kristie Strickland and partner Steve VanDolah of Sapulpa OK; step-daughters: Kay Young and partner Chris Jackson, and Gena (Justin) Ricker, all of Anthony; grandchildren: Jarrett Angle and Cason Angle of Anthony, Damon (Danielle) Taylor of Harper, Layne Strickland and partner Timmy Francis of Claremore OK, Braden Strickland and partner Madison Means of Claremore OK; step-grandchildren: Dalton Young, Wade Young, Kevin Ricker, all of Anthony.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Anthony Christian Church with Bryan Struble officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony.
Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
Memorials in memory of Rod may be made to Anthony Senior Citizens or the Rodney Angle Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
