Robert (Bob) Glen Skillen passed away on January 3, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born December 1, 1927, to Glen and Mabel Skillen, and grew up on the family farm 2 miles east of Norwich. Bob graduated from Norwich High School in 1945. He married Jessie (Dye) Skillen from Turon, Kansas, on October 7, 1950. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. In 1953, he graduated from Friends University with a teaching degree. He taught Math and coached at the following schools: Zenda, Byers, Piedmont, Colony, Cheney, and finished his teaching career at Norwich in 1989. Bob is fondly remembered by many as "Coach". Throughout his career he coached football, basketball, and track, including the 1988 Norwich girls' state championship basketball team. Bob enjoyed farming with his family on their multi-generational farm near Norwich. He was a member of the Norwich Baptist Church, serving in many roles including several years as Sunday School teacher. Bob was preceded in death by his wife: Jessie, and his parents: Glen and Mabel (Devers) Skillen. He is survived by his sister: Nettie Benson and his brother Jim Skillen; five children: Jill (John) Collinson, Lynn (Rochelle) Skillen, Colleen (Steve) Van Gieson, Lorna (Kirk) Poe, and Gail (Paul) Becker; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends.

Funeral Service is at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7th, at the First Baptist Church in Norwich with Pastor Eric Taylor officiating and Dr. Joe Skillen giving the eulogy. Interment will follow at the Upchurch Cemetery in Norwich.

Memorials can be made to the Church and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
