Robert Bon Sharp, 76, was born in Anthony, Kansas on September 2, 1940 to James and Inez (Sherow) Sharp. Robert grew up on the farm where he enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. Robert attended Geitgey, Burchfiel, and Spring Schools where he traveled to and from school on horseback, or riding his Cushman scooter. He graduated Anthony High School in 1958. He attended Kansas State Teaching College, which is now known as Emporia State University, before returning home to Anthony to farm.

On September 21st, 1961, Robert was united in marriage with Carolyn Sue Hunt at the Burchfiel Methodist Church, where he was baptized as a child. From this union three daughters were born: Cori, Crissa, and Chawna.

Faith, Family, Farming, and Friends were Robert's greatest loves. He was involved with many things in the community including: coaching women's softball, Harper County Fair Board, 4-H, Anthony Fair Association, served as a Lieutenant in the Army National Guard, and served two terms as a County Commissioner, where he played a monumental role in bringing the landfill to Harper County. One of his biggest passions was teaching his adult Sunday School class, which he rarely missed. His dedication to the community led him to receive the following awards: The Good Guy Award from the Harper County 4-H Council for his time, interest, and dedication, an award from Kansas Leadership Academy for County Commissioners, and a Certificate from Chaparral High School for his dedicated time and commitment. He also received awards for his dedication to farming. In 1967, he and his dad won The Conservation Award for promoting conservation on the farm. In 2005, he was awarded the Kansas Farm Bureau Natural Resources Award for his no-till impact on improving water quality. He took great pride in being a no-till farmer and worked hard to preserve the soil for future generations.

He enjoyed attending Chaparral sports and spent many years running the clock at the basketball games. Family ski trips to Colorado, weekend rodeos and trail rides with his daughters, playing bridge with his close friends, and creating items for the annual church auction were also among his favorite things to do. It was very important to him that his family attend church and just as important to his family that he had no access to a hymnal. He influenced the lives of many young people in the community.

He left this world doing what he loved on Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Inez Sharp; and granddaughter, Morgan Elliott.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Carolyn; daughters: Cori Patterson (Chris Wilson) of Wichita, Crissa Cox (Brad Acord) of Anthony, and Chawna Hoskinson of Anthony; brother, Ronnie Sharp and wife, Millicent of Fort Scott; 4 grandchildren: Dustin Elliott and wife Toni, Ashlin Davidson and husband Michael, Heather Fields and husband Aaron, and Paige Hoskinson; 4 great-grandchildren: Tripp Davidson, Meadow Elliott, Alyvia Fields, and Paisley Fields to arrive in July; Chris Hoskinson, the son he never had, and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Anthony United Methodist Church with Pastor Kim Martin officiating. Friends may register 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Robert may be made to the Anthony United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
