Richard Julius Pulliam, "Puggy", passed away in his home near Harper, Kansas on August 15, 2020.  Richard was born on June 21, 1950 to Jess Willard and Rita Mary (Niemann) Pulliam.  He grew up on a farm in Sharon, Kansas with his one brother and seven sisters.  Richard attended St. Boniface School until the 8 ^th grade when he continued his education at Sharon High School.

Shortly after he turned 18, Richard was united in marriage to Shari Reed.  To this union they were blessed with four children: Carla, Debbie, Mark, and Angie.

Richard retired from Harper Industries (Deweze) after 39 years.  However, after his retirement he continued to dedicate his services to them.

In Richard's spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and various projects using his hands and staying busy.  Richard had a love for cooking, whether it be feeding two people or 200.  For fun he could be found at the lake camping, fishing, and boating with family and friends.  Richard never met a stranger, he loved people and socializing.  His family meant the world to him.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Rita Pulliam; his sister, Rita Kay Pulliam; his daughter, Carla Helms; and brother-in-law, Danny Young.  He will be deeply missed by his four-legged companion, Polo; son-in-law, Johnnie Helms, Arkansas City, Kansas; daughter, Debbie Karai (Sassan) of Lilburn, Georgia; son, Mark Pulliam of Harper, Kansas; daughter, Angie Pulliam of Harper, Kansas; eleven grandchildren: Kayli Pulliam of Harper, Kansas; Krissa Pulliam (Anthony) of Conyers, Georgia; Larissa Helms (Chris) of Winfield, Kansas; Justin Pulliam of Pueblo, Colorado; Michael Helms (Jayden) of Arkansas City, Kansas; Cole Wasemiller of Trail, Oregon; Dauson Pulliam of Haysville, Kansas; Spencer Helms of Arkansas City, Kansas; Dylan Pulliam (Payton) of Wichita, Kansas; Kenzi Adkisson of Lilburn, Georgia; and Avery Pulliam of Harper, Kansas; nine great-grandchildren: Brendon, Julian, Brecklyn, Cecilia, Ian, Holden, Landon, Charli, and Paizlyn; seven siblings: Ellen Young, Rose Green (Karl), Barbara Frisbie, Mary Swayze (Brian), Susan Morley (Randy), Jim Pulliam (Linda), and Karen Miller (Frank); and a host of many other family and friends.

Visitation is 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Thursday with family present to receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Please wear your face covering if you can.

Funeral Service is 2:00 pm Friday, August 21, 2020 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper with Pastor Ed Hughlett officiating.  Please wear your face covering if you can.
