Obituary

Richard Lee Pomeroy was born on September 21, 1957 in Harper, Kansas to Charles "Bob" and Bertha (Hancock) Pomeroy.  The family made their home near Norwich, Kansas.  He attended Norwich schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1975.

After high school, Richard began his automotive career at various auto dealerships.  He eventually owned his own business, Pomeroy's Service in Norwich, running from 1985 to 1995.

On May 19, 1984, Richard was united in marriage with Ruth Ann Martin and Richard gained a daughter.  Even though the couple eventually divorced, they remained friends.

The automotive industry was Richard's calling.  After closing his business, he worked at a few different places before going to work at Harper Industries in 2001, retiring from there in 2022.

Richard enjoyed traveling and motorcycles.  His favorite vacation destination was Colorado and this is where one of his final destinations will be, as some of his ashes will be spread there.

On December 11, 2022, Richard passed away at Advena Assisted Living in Clearwater, Kansas at the age of 65.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Bertha Pomeroy and a sister, Betty Gore.  Richard is survived by his daughter, Stacie Ricke (Daniel) of Clearwater; brother, Ron Pomeroy (Pat) of Tenkiller, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jordan Ricke (Blake Welty) and Brett Jarmer (Kenzi Walton) all of Clearwater; great-grandchildren, Emri Ray and Izayah Ricke; nieces and nephews: Bethany Mickey (Chad) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lisa Harder (Jonn) of Newton, Kansas, Miles Pomeroy (Krystie) of Seattle, Washington, and Nick Pomeroy (April) of Corsicanna, Texas; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service will be after the first of the year: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating.  Cremation has taken place and the family has planned Richard's final destination ceremonies to take place at a later time.
