Richard Lee Gould was born on August 6, 1930 in Anthony, Kansas to Charles William "Bill" Gould and Juanita Faye (Drake) Gould.  The family made their home on a farm northwest of Harper, Kansas.  Richard, an only child, went to school up until his grade school years, and the family farm was home for Richard well into his 60s.  Attending the Duquoin Church of Christ, Richard was baptized, accepting Jesus as his savior.

A farmer through and through, Richard helped on the family farm for many years, and wheat was the main crop.  After his parents passed away just a few months apart in 1988, Richard continued to farm for almost 10 years with the help of his Aunt and Uncle from Conway Springs, Kansas.

Becoming a resident of Arrowhead West, Richard first lived in Medicine Lodge, Kansas before moving to Pratt, Kansas.  He often talked about his life on the farm and his parents; his love for both were evident to everyone who knew him.  He proudly displayed pictures of his parents at his home and enjoyed sharing stories over coffee.

Loving farm life, especially anything John Deere, was probably why Richard loved to mow so much.  He was incredibly proud of his collection of John Deere memorabilia that he built over 20 years, making frequent trips to the dealership to look at what they had that he could add to his others.  Richard enjoyed mowing lawns during the summer months and cruising around on his mower.  He was an extremely hard worker, and even at 90 years old, he would stop by most mornings to say that he wanted to mow that day.

When Richard wasn't working, he took pleasure in watching old westerns, drinking a cup of coffee, and going to his favorite restaurant to have a burger.  He enjoyed his fun filled vacations, to include his favorites, fishing trips in Florida and a cruise to Jamaica.  And he loved sharing the photos of his trips with the people he met.

Richard passed away at his home in Pratt, Kansas on November 7, 2020 at the age of 90.  He is survived by a few cousins, other relatives, and his family at Arrowhead West.  Cremation has taken place.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Graveside Service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Attica Cemetery with Mr. Eddie Barber officiating.  Please wear protective face covering if able to do so and practice social distancing.
