Phillip (Phil) James Arnett was born the first and only child February 24, 1939 to Wilbur and Evelyn (Allen) Arnett.  He departed this life on August 14, 2020.

Phil grew up during the time his parents owned and operated the family restaurant for 30 years.  During these years his grandmother Allen loved and cared for Phil.  They went fishing and enjoyed other outdoor activities.  The other past time Phil spent at the movies, sometimes setting threw them back to back.  In his later years growing up he spent many hours at the library studying history, movie history, wars, etc.  Phil is well known as a history buff for the town of Anthony, he could tell you what businesses were and who operated them.

Phil attended all school at the grade school, junior high, and high school in Anthony.  At the age of 15 he started working for Red Carter, and worked many hours on new and older homes and businesses throughout his lifetime.  He even finished the family home he and his wife shared for over 50 years.  Phil also worked 13+ years for K-Dot, as a haul contractor for 21+ years, and then worked in the paint department as a lead at Cessna Aircraft for 7+ years until retiring May 30, 2003.

After a short courtship he married the love of his life.  Phillip married Marilyn (George) on May 4, 1962.  To this union they were blessed with their only son, James Perry in August 1963.  Together they worked and enjoyed working with the Anthony Gun Club, managing the Kansas Trap Shooter Association for 44 years.  Phil was an avid trap shooter receiving over 430 trophies, and was inducted into the KTA Hall of Fame in June 1981.  After retiring they enjoyed traveling with friends to Las Vegas, NV, Tunica, MI, Shreveport, LA as well as Oklahoma and Kansas.

Phil enjoyed his grandchildren, Lindsey and Nicholas, but when great-grandchildren came along he enjoyed them even more.  Nicknaming his first great-grandson "Cannonball," they were the best of pals!  The others were just as special but did not get a special name- Adrianna, McKinley, Zyles, and Wilbur.

After a courageous battle of heart problems and a long battle of cancer, Phil went to be with his Lord and Savior.  He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized May 18, 2014.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur; his mother, Evelyn; both grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marilyn; his son, James; grandchildren: Lindsey and Nicholas; five great-grandchildren:  Adrianna, Isaiah, McKinley, Zyles, and Wilbur.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Manchester Cemetery, Manchester, Oklahoma.  Cremation has taken place.  Please wear a mask if you are able.

Friends may sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Phil may be made to the Phil Arnett Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
