Naomi Faye Fenton was born on March 28, 1930 to Harold Ulysses and Lily May (Trollope) Fox, one of eight children.  Harper, Kansas is where Naomi was born, raised, attended school, graduated with the Harper High School class of 1948, and where she called home for all but the last two years of her life.

On December 16, 1949, Naomi was united in marriage with Philip Leroy Fenton in her hometown.  The couple were blessed with a son, Mark.  Naomi, at times with the help of Phil and Mark, was very active in her community.  She learned how to decorate cakes and turned that into a thriving business.  Her cakes were a work of art and a process that could only be fully understood by watching and listening to her as she went through each step.  A dedicated, attentive, and loving wife and mother, Naomi still found time to be a successful businesswoman.  This was again proven so true when Phil and she bought the store, Mode-O-Day (later changed to Fashion Crossroads) in downtown Harper.  In addition to running the store, Naomi even became the President of the Chamber of Commerce.  After retirement, she was far from finished serving others as she became very involved with the Christian Church and meals on wheels.  Just shy of their 51st anniversary, Phil passed away on October 21, 2000.

A woman of many titles, some that were most important to her were mom, wife, Grandma, Aunt Omi, and friend.  She was always "all in" and this was true about her love for her family.  Naomi loved her large family.  Starting with the seven siblings she grew up with, then her husband and son, her grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews, and so many others.  They all have countless, fond memories of holidays, gatherings, games, and just all being together.  Naomi (and you better pronounce it Naoma) was cherished and important in all her relatives' lives.

Her health declining, Naomi became a resident of Anthony Community Care Center in December of 2019.  She was very happy being part of this family and the care they provided was very appreciated.  This is where she passed away on December 1, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lily Fox; husband, Phil; and siblings: Harold Jr, WJ, Virginia "Jenny" Fields, Bessie Berberich, Edna Mae Barnes, and Mary Jean Johnson.  Naomi will be forever missed by her son, Mark Fenton and his wife, Melissa of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren: Wes Fenton and his wife, Karen of Urbana, Illinois, Megan Deaver and her husband, Joshua of Raleigh, and Sydney Lusk of Raleigh; one great-grandchild on the way; sister, Carolyn Hunzicker and her husband, Bob of Overland Park, Kansas; sister-in-law, Harriet Fox of Harper; all her very special nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday with family present from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper.

Graveside Service is 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Harper Cemetery with Phil Unruh officiating.
