Michael Dale Pfannenstiel was born on January 20, 1947 in Ness City, Kansas, the second son of Edwin and Vada Fern (Wireman) Pfannenstiel.  He passed away at Wheatlands Health Care Center in Kingman, Kansas on May 21, 2024.

Mike married Linda Diane Trotter on June 12, 1965 in Attica, Kansas.  A few months later they were blessed with their only child as they welcomed Michelle Renee into the family.  The family of three lived in Goddard, Kansas for quite some time.  With Mike's eye for design, he was hired by Jack DeBoer to do some interior design work.  Mike was getting so good that Jack offered Mike to start flying around the United States.  Then Mike's father-in-law, Vernon offered him a partnership at Trotter's Market in Attica.  To be closer to family, they took that job instead.  Mike had some other jobs through the years that included Occidental Mag Plant for 15 years, KGS in Medicine Lodge for 4 years, and Cessna Aircraft for 10 years.  And for a short time, Mike, his brother-in-law Mike Ryan, and friend Fred Gerdes owned a business for teens, called "The Fun Center."

It was no secret that Mike loved old cars.  He had his own business, Kustom Kemp where he restored old classics from the ground-up.  Mike was one of the founding fathers of Shades of the Past Car Club.  He also loved to go fishing with Mike Ryan and Larry Stranathan.  In their later years, Mike and Linda had happy times in a Corvette Club, traveling alongside Bob and Nancy Culver.

Mike was a very devoted and loving husband to Linda and father to Michelle.  He worked hard for many years to provide for his family.  He also was a big part of the community where he was on the Attica City Council from 1990 to 1994 as well as enjoying his time as a Board Member of the Attica Saddle Club for several years.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Fern Pfannenstiel; wife and love of his life, Linda on August 23, 2016; his only brother, Captain Thomas Pfannenstiel was killed in a helicopter crash during training in the Kansas National Guard on August 13, 1981; and nephew, Dustin Pfannenstiel.  He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Francis of Wichita, Kansas; granddaughter, Kayla Fobes of Kingman; grandson, Jagger Francis of Kingman; great-grandchildren: Carter, Ferris, and Elliotte Fobes; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Mike Ryan of Attica; niece, Lori Ryan of Attica, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.

The family invites those who knew Mike to a celebration of his life at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Attica Cemetery, followed by a light lunch at Krazy Horse (618 W Ave C in Attica).  Jagger is hoping for a line of corvettes in Mike's honor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rivercross Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
