Michael Duane Drosselmeyer was born August 13, 1943 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, son of Vernon and Margie (Kraus) Drosselmeyer.  He grew up in Anthony, graduating from Anthony High School with the Class of 1961.

He and his brother, Terry, started Drosselmeyer Excavation, a business they ran together until 1976.

On September 2, 1976, Mike was united in marriage with Janice Aleshire at the Congregational Church in Anthony, Kansas.  With this union, Mike inherited two children, whom he always considered his own.  The family moved to Oklahoma and Oregon, before settling back in Anthony, where Mike retired from Harper County Road and Bridge.

Mike inspired his children and grandchildren.  He was an outspoken, humorous, witty, sassy, stubborn, shit-talking old man with a heart of gold.  While he was the first to offer a lecture, he was also the first to offer his help.  He always had a smart ass answer to any question.  Many favorite memories were made around the dinner table. From watching him cook, to trying new BBQ sauces and being the official meat taste tester.  Suppertime was always full of laughs and great food.  He was so ornery, which made him fun to tease.  He was so full of wisdom and fire.  Many memories were also made with "papa" in the truck.  Kilian remembers hitting the back roads with papa and him teaching her how to drive the dually.

On July 22, 2021, Mike passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 77 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, George and Ruth Aleshire; and one brother, Don.

Mike will be forever missed by his wife, Jan; daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Lynn Mayo; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Lana Goertz; brother, Terry Drosselmeyer and wife, Carol; 6 grandchildren:  Kilian Mayo, Kinzee Newlin (Kody), Zack Ammann (Emilee), Cassidy Goertz, Shania Goertz, and Karleigh Goertz; 5 great-grandchildren with number 6 on the way:  Austyn, Saylor, Kendal, Kaleb, and Kyzer; several nie

ces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Our memories will heal our hearts in the years to come.  We will all always love and miss you, you "old fart!"

Mike's wishes were to be cremated.  The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date.
