Merline Mary Wellbrock, 89, passed away December 15, 2023 at Patterson Health Center in Anthony, Kansas.

She was born January 9, 1934 at Victoria, Kansas, daughter of August and Helen (Dreiling) Kuhn.

On August 8, 1953, Merline married LeRoy F. Wellbrock at Victoria.  Merline worked as a nurse's aide for St. Anthony's Hospital in Hays and later at the hospital and nursing home in Great Bend.

Merline was raised in The Basilica of St. Fidelis Church in Victoria, after moving to Great Bend she became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.  After LeRoy passed, Merline moved to Anthony, Kansas where she became a member of the St. Joan of Arc Parish.  Throughout her life she loved volunteering for her churches, and later in life the Anthony Thrift Store and Food Pantry.

Merline was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her children: Lyle Wellbrock and wife, Sandy of Anthony, Milissa Panning of Springdale, Arkansas, and Mark Wellbrock of Naperville, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: AshLee Snyder and husband, AJ, Brianna Wellbrock, Bess Wellbrock, and KayLene Haney and husband, Hunter; 5 great-grandchildren: Emma, Quincey, and Adrian Washington, and Charles Maverick and Charlotte Isabel Haney; siblings: Ellie Dickerson, Norma Wellbrock, Jim Kuhn, and Cliff Kuhn; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; and siblings: August, Albert, Louis, Elmer, Ralph and Frank Kuhn, Alice Haselhorst, Dolorosa Berens, Leona Wellbrock, and Juanita Kuhn.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, KS with Father Bob Pinninti officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anthony Ministerial Association (for the Thrift Store) and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
