Max Lynn Hare was born January 14, 1940 in Fredonia, Kansas, son of Herbert S. Hare Sr. and Elva Ruth McPherson Hare. He grew up in Fredonia, Chanute and Yates Center. Following high school, Max joined the Army National Guard.

Max was united in marriage to Mary McCauley. This union was blessed with four children: Patricia, Dian, Kim and Christopher. They later divorced.

Max made his career as a Union Iron Worker. His work took him all over the United States. After retiring, he settled in Harper, Kansas, where he enjoyed teaching his friends' children how to hunt and work on cars. He also liked making many of the ladies who worked in town feel appreciated with occasional donuts, chocolate covered berries and flowers.

Max loved fishing, hunting, riding his Harleys (he only owned three), and was also crazy for cars, especially fast ones.

On April 23, 2019, Max passed away unexpectedly at his home in Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Herbert Jr., Martha, Susan and William.

Max will be deeply missed by his children: Dian Reyes, Kim Robertson and husband, Rick, Patricia Reasoner, and Christopher Hare; brother, Larry Hare and wife, Anna Mae; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Max's request was to be cremated and for his family to have a private celebration of life.

Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
