Mary Alice Wolf was born August 9, 1933, daughter of Harold Dale and Mildred Beatrice (Johnson) Wilson in Anthony, Kansas. She graduated from Anthony High School with the Class of 1951.
She married Ken Prather and this union was blessed with three children: Clayton Eugene, Debra Jean, and Roy Dale.
Mary later married Jim Wolf, who was a pilot for Cessna. This union brought Mary two stepchildren, Annadell and Ben. When they lived in Anthony, Jim would fly over the house so Mary would know when to start supper.
Mary worked as the Director of Nursing at the Anthony Hospital. She was the best nurse and known as the family doctor. When the kids were out playing, she would whistle when it was time to come home and they always swore they could hear her whistle all the way uptown even though their house was in the 700 block of north Anthony. A caring and honest heart, many came to Mary for advice or help. She would help anyone anytime she could. She was a devoted Christian and spent many a times with her niece reading out of the Bible, her favorite verse being Psalms 23.
After retiring, Mary and Jim moved to Texas and later Arkansas, where Jim passed away in 2001. In the summer of 2023, Mary moved back home to Anthony to live with her niece, Mary Jo Bush. It was at their home Mary passed away on December 16, 2023 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings: Tommy Wilson, Dee LaPlant, and Daylene Earnest; all three of her children: Clayton, Debbie, and Roy; and stepson, Ben.
Mary will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Craig Drummond and children, Gunner and Blakely, Dustin Prather, and Brandon Prather; niece and nephews: Mary Jo Bush, Jimmy LaPlant, Billy Joe Foss, and Leonard Foss; other nieces and nephews; Jim's daughter and grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Cremation has taken place and Mary will be inurned in Arkansas with her daughter and son-in-law. No service will be held.
Memorials in memory of Mary may be made to Revolution Fellowship or the Harper County Health Foundation (for Dialysis) and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
