Mary E. Kraus departed from this earth on June 4th, 2018 at the age of 90. She was born June 13, 1927 in Harper, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pauline (Gleichman) Kraus of Harper; sisters: Thuraline Keith of Attica, Velma Aeschleman Boyle of Hoisington, Kansas, Dorothy Kraus of Harper; brothers: Arthur Kraus and Fritz Kraus of Harper, Clifford Kraus of Chicago, Illinois, Ernest Kraus of Loveland, Colorado, and George Krause of Mechanicsville, Virginia.  Mary is survived by two sisters, Virginia Krause and Patricia Reveles of La Crescenta, California; and nieces and nephews: Vance Aeschleman Jr., Valarie Pabalis, Vaughn Aeschleman, Virginia Schwartz, Sam Krause, and Jeff Kraus.

During her lifetime, Mary worked for the telephone company for 42 years, first for Southwestern Bell in Harper, Kansas and then for Pacific Telephone in Hollywood, California.  She retired with AT&T in 1986.  While in Hollywood, she took many calls from actress Elizabeth Taylor and President Batista, exiled from his native land, the country of Cuba.

Mary enjoyed tutoring children at the PTA center in downtown Los Angeles and was tutoring children in the Watts area when the historic Watts riot erupted in 1963.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations may be sent to the Humane Society in Wichita.
