Mary Lou Kolarik was born October 20, 1927 in Harper, Kansas, daughter of Ezra and Martha (McCrady) Bradfield. She attended school in Harper. Sadly, her father passed away when she was in high school and she and her family made great sacrifices to support and take care of one another.

In 1950, Mary Lou was united in marriage with LL "Pete" Schon. Together they raised three children: John, Sheryl and Becky. They lived in Milton and Ashland before settling in Argonia, Kansas in 1962. Pete passed away in 1975.

In 1986, Mary Lou married Vernon Joseph Kolarik. They made their home in Argonia. They enjoyed travelling to Arizona for the winters. Vernon passed away in 2010.

Mary Lou was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She always made sure her children and grandchildren knew that she loved them, never saying goodbye without an I love you as well. She was a talented quilter, a great cook, and always enjoyed a game of cards, a night out dancing, a peaceful round of golf or a quiet walk down by the river. She worked many years at various restaurants as a cook and waitress.

Mary Lou was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Argonia, where she was active in the ladies quilting. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

On October 2, 2019, Mary Lou passed away at the Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 12 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Pete and Vernon; her daughter, Sheryl Bellamy; one grandson, John Justin Bellamy; and siblings: Ezra Jr., Lavonne, Louise and her twin sister, Martha.

Mary Lou will be deeply missed by her children: John Schon and wife, Tommie, and Becky Coleman and husband, James; step-son, Marty Kolarik; brother, James Bradfield; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Argonia, KS.

Friends may sign the register from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Mary Lou may be made to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
