Mary Lou Hunt was born November 15, 1922 in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of R.E. "Bud" and Mollie R. (Keeler) Patterson. She attended school at Ferguson and Spring Schools.

On November 15, 1940, her 18th birthday, Mary Lou was united in marriage with Walter Joseph Hunt. This union was blessed with four children: Carolyn, Myrna, Walter Jr. and John. The family moved around a lot due to Walter's job with Boeing Aircraft. Mary Lou devoted her life to raising her children. When Walter's traveling for work slowed down, they made their home in Wichita until he retired.

In 1970, Mary Lou and Walter moved to Anthony, Kansas. Together they owned and operated Anthony Floral for 20 years before retiring. They loved the floral business and all the people they met during this time.

Mary Lou loved her family. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She and Walter shared 74 years of devotion to each other before he passed in March of 2015. Mary Lou loved growing flowers in her yard, making ceramics and attending auctions. After moving into the Anthony Community Care Center, she enjoyed bingo, making sure every resident marked all their cards correctly.

On April 1, 2017, Mary Lou passed away at Family Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 16 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son-in-law, Ben McGee; great-granddaughter, Morgan Elliott; and siblings: Vivian Potts, Lloyd Patterson, Winifred Miller, Helen Moore, Beulah Large, Thelma Vlcek, Fern Hormel and Glen Patterson.

Mary Lou will be deeply missed by her children: Carolyn Sharp and husband, Robert, Myrna McGee, Jr. Hunt and wife, Debbie, and John Hunt; 10 grandchildren: Monica (McGee) Hickey, Cori (Sharp) Patterson, Mark McGee, Crissa (Sharp) Cox, Chawna (Sharp) Hoskinson, Michelle McGee, Bridgette (Hunt) Hendrick, Elizabeth (Hunt) Nordwall, Jessica (Hunt) Hughes and Walter Jay Hunt; 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 6 great-great grandchildren with 2 on the way; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Pastor Kim Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Mary Lou may be made to the Anthony Community Care Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
