Mary Louise Hixson was born September 1, 1956 and died from coronavirus on November 19, 2020.

Mary touched all our lives in different ways.  Cherish your memories of her and know how much she valued your friendship.  Mary worked here and was involved and active in the Anthony community her life long.  In various ways, times and places she made loyalty and concerns for Anthony real and tangible.  She worked tirelessly for our welfare and future.

Mary attended Anthony Public Schools and was adopted by the Class of 1974, though she graduated in Oklahoma.  She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, attaining both undergraduate and graduate degrees.  Mary always participated in sports as a student-athlete or coach or fan.  She won many awards and commendations for her abilities and accomplishments, but none as meaningful or satisfying as your support and appreciation.

Mary loved the church, its life, and faith.  She was ordained and served with energy, commitment, intelligence, and respect.  Mary's faithful witness is a testament to her faith in God and her motivation in service.

Mary is preceded in death by her grandparents: John and Anna Louise Hixson and William Ray and Rhoda Louise Fox; and her parents: John E. Hixson and Suzanne Hixson Terry.

She is survived by her companion, Rebecca New; sister, Charlotte Harding and spouse; half-sisters, Diana Terry, Judy Turner and spouse, Geri Garcia and spouse, and Sandy Terry; 12 nieces; 2 nephews; 27 great nieces and nephews; 1 great-great niece; cousin, Eileen (Williams) Ochoa; and many significant friends.

Memorials may be made to any organization as Mary served in many ways and would be appreciative of the honor.  The Anthony Ministerial Association Food Ministry, Obadiah's Pantry, was especially important.

Mary's love, commitment, and friendship were unwavering.  We all will miss her.  Together we offer Thanksgiving for the life and ministry of Mary Louise Hixson.

A worship service of witness to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and to honor Mary will be held on Wednesday, November 25th at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery.  The coronavirus is insidious and still ramped and unchecked.  To honor Mary's memory it is expected that everyone wear a mask.

Friends may sign Mary's register book from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
