Marvin Leonard "Lucky" Haynes was born July 15, 1938 in Laramie, Wyoming, the first of five children born to Marvin Delmar Haynes and Nina Deloris (Paige) Haynes.

On February 8, 1962, Lucky was united in marriage with Mary Drew at the Assembly of God Church in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.  This union was blessed with five children:  Marvin Leon, Richard, Kenneth, Stewart, and Lacy.  After moving several times, the family found their permanent home at the end of 1969 in Anthony, Kansas.

Lucky worked many years as a carpenter and roofer and at Kelly's Salvage in Harper.  He enjoyed the simple life.  His favorite hobbies were fishing and raising animals. Mary always felt he enjoyed raising the animals because he knew it aggravated her.  Nonetheless, they raised chickens, goats, calves, hogs, sheep, and even a horse.  In earlier years, he enjoyed working on cars and participating in the Harper demolition derby.

On August 14, 2022, Lucky passed away peacefully at his home in Anthony at the age of 84.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Viola Wright and Freddie Haynes; and daughter-in-law, Christine Haynes.

Lucky will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Mary Haynes; children:  Marvin Haynes and wife, Heather, Richard Haynes, Kenneth Haynes and wife, Christina, Stewart Haynes, and Lacy Nelson; sisters: Helen Duran and Nellie Johnson; 12 grandchildren:  Marvin Allen Haynes, Angela Dawn Parsons, Sarah Haynes, Mary Haynes, Trinity Scherler, Lesley "Lester" Taranovich, Ricky Haynes, Eric Haynes, Matthew Haynes, Emily Haynes, Michael Nelson, and Tegan Haynes; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has taken place and private services will be held.
