Marlan Wade Forrest was born in Harper, Kansas on January 4, 1952 to Wayne Everlight Forrest and Miriam Luella (Hufford) Forrest.  He was raised in Argonia, Kansas and this is where he went to school, graduating from Argonia High School with the class of 1970.

Losing his brother in the Vietnam War, Marlan felt compelled to serve.  Joining the Army on December 8, 1971 and after his training, he too served in the Vietnam War in the 1st Cav Division.  Marlan was honorably discharged on December 6, 1974 with the rank of Sergeant.

Returning home, Marlan went to work as a mechanic in the aircraft industry.  He retired in 2015 after 20 years with Boeing and 10 years with Spirit Aerosystems.  Marlan enjoyed antique collecting, deer hunting, and Nascar Racing.  He was a member of Missouri Valley Wrench Club, The Hardware Companies Kollector Klub, NRA, and National Vietnam Memorial.

At the age of 70, Marlan passed away on April 26, 2022 in Wichita, Kansas.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, Wayne and Miriam Forrest; sister, Mona Forrest; and brother, Monte Forrest.  He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Ashlee Forrest of Kechi, Kansas and Danielle Fowler (Russell) of Springfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral in Harper, Kansas.  Graveside Service with military honors will follow at the Argonia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Argonia HS Girls Basketball and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
