Marilyn Fae Spencer-Vanatta of Conroe, Texas was born November 19, 1936 in Norwich, Kansas to Elton and Rozella (King) VanGieson. She passed away on July 21, 2026 in The Woodlands, Texas at the age of 89. Marilyn was a member of the First Methodist Church of Willis. She was a master gardener but also loved spending time with the family at functions where she could show off her cooking skills. She had a passion for traveling and seeing the great sites with her husband of 30 years, Jack Spencer.
Preceding Marilyn in death was her husband of 30 years, Jack Spencer and her husband, Jerry Vanatta; her parents; and her brother, Cameron VanGieson. She is survived by three children: Brent Spencer, Lance Spencer, and Shaun Tewell; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2026 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper. Burial follows at the Greenwood Cemetery north of Belmont in Kingman County, Kansas where she will be buried by her first husband, Jack Spencer.
Memorial contributions in memory of Marilyn should be made payable to the First Methodist Church of Willis and can be sent to First Methodist Church, 200 N. Thomason St, Willis, Texas 77378.
