Marilyn Sue Albright was born on November 4, 1942 in Harper, Kansas to Chester Frederick and Maxine Elizabeth (Green) Barnes.  This is where she was raised along with her four siblings.  She attended grade school in Harper before going on to Harper High School, graduating with the class of 1960.

Moving to Wichita, Marilyn lived with a family and worked for them as she attended business college.  She had met and started dating Dennis Leroy Albright in high school.  The two were united in marriage on February 10, 1962 at the Harper United Methodist Church.

While Dennis attended college in Alva, Oklahoma, they pulled a trailer there and this is where they lived.  In between school years, they pulled the trailer back to Harper to live in while they worked locally.  In Alva, Marilyn was a car hop at one of the first Sonic Drive-Ins.

The couple then moved to their life-long home north of Attica, Kansas.  Marilyn became a homemaker and farmer's wife as the two were blessed with two boys, Kevin and Krag.  After the boys had grown older, Marilyn was the first manager of Dark's Landing in Attica, working there for their first five years in business.  She then started a mobile business, "Mare's Munchies" where she went around to car shows and auctions, serving food, ice cream, and cotton candy.  Marilyn later joined a friend cleaning homes for several years.  She also helped at the family-owned business, A&A Auto for quite some time.

Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Family was very important to her.  Through the years, many friends of her children and grandchildren spent time gathering at her home.  She was a long-time member of the Harper United Methodist Church.  In the last few years, they attended Revolution Fellowship in Anthony, but she still attended a regular bible study at Harper UMC.  Marilyn loved trips on the back of the motorcycle with Dennis.  They made several stops at antique stores over the years.  She also enjoyed boating and camping.

Preceding Marilyn in death are her father, Chester Barnes and two sisters, Carolyn Willis and Cheryl Ward.  She is survived by her mother, Maxine Barnes of Harper; husband, Dennis Albright of the home; sons, Kevin Albright and wife, Vickie and Krag Albright and wife, Susan all of Harper; grandchildren: Shalee Higgins (Chris) of Elkhart, Kansas, Brandace Ward (Tyler) of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Taylor Albright (Tatum Klausmeyer) of Harper, Dayton Albright (Ravin) of Harper, Chyanne Albright (Parker Patterson) of Waldron, Kansas, Alexis Bishop (Kyle) of Pasadena, Maryland, Jordan Haley of Baltimore, Maryland, and Matthew Haley (Kaitlin) of Wichita; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers, George Barnes (Debbie) of Wichita and Fred Barnes (Charlotte) of Wellington; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 18 , 2025 at Revolution Fellowship Church in Anthony with Pastor Kent Old officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Patterson Health Center Dialysis Unit and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
