Obituary

Marianne Kesley, born on March 12, 1938, in Eger, Germany, alongside her twin sister, Ilse, was the beloved daughter of Karl and Margaret (Brandl) Kartschall. Her early years were fraught with hardship as she experienced the trials of war. The sisters were abruptly uprooted, forced to leave their home with only their clothes, as food became scarce and their father became a prisoner of war.

Several months after Ilse's relocation to Kansas, Marianne herself ventured to the United States, where she would meet her future husband and eventually settle in Texas. It was there that Marianne welcomed her daughter, Christina, into the world. Following her divorce, Marianne and Christina made their home in Anthony, Kansas.

For 17 years, Marianne devoted her time and energy to the State of Kansas, serving as a patient assistant in home care. Her last six years of employment were spent at the Anthony Hospital before she retired. Marianne's unwavering commitment and exceptional service earned her numerous awards and accolades from local and state agencies throughout her time in Kansas.

Tragically, on May 25, 2023, Marianne passed away at the age of 85, peacefully residing at the Anthony Community Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard, and her twin sister, Ilse Martens.

Marianne's absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed by her cherished daughter, Christina Wesley, and son-in-law Marvin, as well as her beloved grandchild, Max Wesley. Her surviving brother, Gottfried "Freddy" Kartschall, also mourns her loss, along with a multitude of other relatives and friends who were fortunate to have known her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit. Marianne's memory will endure in their hearts.

Graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony, Kansas.

Memorials in memory of Marianne may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
