Margaret Maxine (Miller) King was born on March 2, 1934 to Raymond J. and Georgeann (Barber) Miller on the family farm NW of Hydro, Oklahoma.  Margaret had an older brother, Donald and two older sisters, Leona and Lola which have all preceded her in death.  She had a younger sister born in 1938 and brother born in 1943 that were both stillborn.

Margaret graduated from Hydro High School with the class of 1952.  She attended a year of college before going to live with her sister Leona in Wichita, where they both worked at St. Francis Hospital as part of the team preparing patient meals.

Meeting Forrest Lee King in 1954, the couple were married on April 8, 1955 at her parent's home NW of Hydro.  They began farming north of Argonia, Kansas and then moved to the farm west of Argonia in 1958.  It was this farm they would share the rest of their married lives together until Forrest's death on January 2, 2015.

Born to this union were four children: Lamoine, Darwin, Gwendolyn, and Melanie.  The family farmed together and Forrest and the children ran a dairy for a number of years.  The family attended the Argonia Friends Church.

Margaret was fashionable, a talented seamstress, an excellent gardener, adored cardinals, and loved to brag about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She had the ability to grow just about anything and she loved to design and do floral arrangements for the church.  Whenever she brought in new arrangements, she would have us all move to different pews throughout the sanctuary to make sure they looked alright from every angle before Sunday morning church service.  As siblings we all loved Mom and our spouses are angels for being on this journey with us.  We all wish her a loving, restful, and eternal peace.

On July 12, 2019, Margaret passed at Monroe Manor in Jay, Oklahoma at the age of 85.  Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Forrest Lee King; her granddaughter, Lauri Ann King; her parents; and her siblings.  She is survived by a sister-in-law, Violet Miller of Hesston, Kansas; her 4 children: Lamoine and Becky King of Goddard, Kansas, Darwin and Diana King of Afton, Oklahoma, Gwen and Dick Ziegler of Wichita, Kansas, and Melanie and David King of Atlanta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren: Lisa King (Thorsten Huth), Aaron (Megan) King, Amy (Garth) Moon, Ivory (Michael) Metz, Seth (Katie) King, Isaac (Becky) King, Isaiah (Randi) King, Ben (Cortney) Forrest, Collin (Shelby) Forrest, Zachary Forrest, Joshua (Christelle) Forrest, Sarah (Connor) McGill, and Kirsten King; 20 great-grandchildren: Julian, Oliver, Coralee, Elias, Indigo, Nova, Scarlett, Griffin, Axel, Asher, Zackary, Lakoda, Gavyn, Trent, Bailey, Kyndall, Kira, Kota, Scarlette, and Amaryllis; a number of nieces and nephews and their families; other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Argonia Friends Church and can be sent in care of the funeral home.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Argonia Friends Church with Pastor Eric Linville officiating.  Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, south of Danville, Kansas.
