Margaret Anne White Hoard, daughter of William Egbert White and Dollye Dee Herr Brown White, was born in the Galloway Hospital in Anthony, Kansas on August 31, 1924, and departed from this life at Anthony, Kansas on October 16, 2017.

At the young age of nine, Margaret Anne lost her mother. Her father's sister, Ida White, moved in with the family to help with the raising of her. In 1936, Margaret Ashlock became her caregiver and in 1939, Vivian Shaw became her caregiver.

Margaret Anne attended Geitgey rural grade school, where her Aunt Ida was the teacher. She called Aunt Ida, Miss White, so her schoolmates wouldn't tease her. She attended Spring Township High School her freshman and sophomore years before transferring to Anthony High School, graduating with the Class of 1942. After graduation, she attended secretarial school in Wichita before going to work for Beech Aircraft. While in Wichita, she lived with her cousin, Beulah Schodde and her three children, Allen, Gloria and Kenneth.

On November 27, 1946, Margaret Anne was united in marriage with Garold Hoard in the Christian Church in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita where Margaret Anne continued working for Beech Aircraft and Garold worked for the Coleman Company.

In 1949, Margaret Anne and Garold moved to the Attica area and engaged in farming and raising cattle on the Bertha Cornick place. Two more moves were made in the Attica area before moving to a farm southwest of Anthony in the 1980's. Upon the death of Garold in 1994, Margaret Anne moved to Anthony where she resided until a stroke necessitated her move to the home comfort unit of Anthony Medical Center.

When Margaret Anne retired from the ASCS Office, she and Garold enjoyed their time traveling, fishing or visiting with their family and many friends.

Margaret Anne was a member of the Anthony Christian Church, joining early in life. She was also a member of the Martha Vail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was definitely a people person. Many will remember her laughter upon hearing a good joke. She enjoyed playing cards, pitch and poker being her favorites, with different groups, as well as with family on holidays. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling with her teams. She was always ready to go somewhere or just to take a ride in the countryside.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepmother, Lucy; infant brother, Robert Morris; step-brothers: Keith and JD Robertson; sister-in-law, Juanita Armstrong; niece, Judy Wells; cousins, Eileen Barr, Jim Colrady and Dwight Moore.

Survivors include her sisters-in-law, JoAnn Robertson, Mary Ellen Holland and Peggy Browitt; brothers-in-law, Gene Williams and Jerry Hoard; many nieces and nephews including: John Wells, Jan Lanie and husband, Mike, Kim Parsons and husband, Jeff, Aaron Wells and wife, Amy; several cousins including: Frances Smalley and husband, Jim, Pat Mogged and family, Bill Ernst and family, Marge Colrady, Mathew Barr, Mike Moore and Michele Allen; the extended Brown family including, Gayle and Dave Oller; her bird, Bingo, her beloved companion and roommate; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Brandon Gerber officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Margaret Anne may be made to the Anthony Medical Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
