Mack O'Dell Jr.'s Obituary
Mack O'Dell Jr. was born October 16, 1925 in Celina, Texas, son of Mack O'Dell Sr. and Mary Eva (Billmeier) O'Dell. He graduated from Alla High School in Celina.
On May 24, 1945, Mack was inducted into the United States Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1945.
On June 27, 1958, Mack was united in marriage with Clara Beth Price in Wellington, Kansas. Both had previously been married and brought forth into this union four children: Kim Helton and Donald, Dennis and David O'Dell. They made their home in Assaria, Kansas and had three more children together: Amy, Dana and Devin.
Mack worked as a TV Repair Technician for many years at Johnson's. He was active in the Assaria Lutheran Church and the Lion's Club. He served on the Assaria Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and gardening.
On April 24, 2017, Mack passed away at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beth on September 26, 2011; daughter, Kim Kenison; and siblings: Barbara Hammonds, Johnny O'Dell, Hattie Shackelford and Rose Lynch.
Mack will be deeply missed by his children: Donald O'Dell and wife, Jenny, Dennis O'Dell and wife, Stephanie, David O'Dell, Amy Mezzetta and husband, Tom, Dana O'Dell and wife, Lynette, and Devin O'Dell and wife, Amy; siblings: Iva Ingram, Alvin Ray O'Dell and wife, Bobbie, and Bertie Pursley; sister-in-law, Margie O'Dell; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, Kansas. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to service Thursday.
Memorials in memory of Mack may be made to the Bethany Home or to the Alzheimer's Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003, is in charge of arrangements.
