Lois Elaine Rogers Pence was born October 9, 1935 to Fred and Marguerite Rogers in Rexford KS where she was raised on a dairy farm. Lois graduated from Menlo High School in 1953. She loved being outdoors helping her dad with the milking shorthorn cattle and was active in showing cattle and 4-H as a youth.

On March 20, 1955, Lois was united in marriage to Allan Pence.  This union was blessed with three sons: Roger, Quinn, and James Lee, and one daughter, Tammy (deceased).  Allan and Lois raised those sons to be amazing men, loyal, hard-working, loving husbands and fathers. Lois and Allan celebrated their 65 ^th wedding anniversary in 2020.

Lois and Allan settled on the Pence family farm north of Colby. She gladly donned her jeans to milk cows, work cattle, drive tractor, run the auger to fill the bins, or whatever was needing done! Lois kept the household running by keeping up with family farm laundry, meals that went to the field, gardening, and putting up most of their own produce. Lois was the glue that held the farm together.

Lois was known for being the most gracious hostess! One never came to the Pence Farm that they were not offered something to drink and more than likely some freshly baked sweet. You never left her home hungry!

She is fondly remembered for her incredible meals, both in the home and field, her candy jar in the kitchen window, baked goodies, and malts. Lois was a fierce competitor and when playing cards or board games, if you wanted to win you paired with her! She loved watching basketball and particularly any game K State was playing.

In 2019, Lois and Allan moved to Harper County Kansas to be closer to family.

On, February 21, 2021, Lois passed away at Attica Long Term Care in Attica, Kansas at the age of 85 years, after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan; parents; infant daughter, Tammy; and siblings Dorene Durham, Urdia Benjamin, Cleon Rogers, and Robert Rogers.

Lois will be missed by her sons: Roger Pence and wife, Joan of Flagstaff, AZ, Quinn Pence and wife, Carla of Harper, KS, and Lee Pence and wife, DJ of Derby, KS; 10 grandchildren:  Tiffany Pence, Danielle Quintanar, Jeremiah Pence, Levi Pence, Matthew Pence, Caleb Pence, Jeshua Pence, Luke Pence, Mariah Pence, and Samual Pence; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bliss and Connie Bryant; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Pence and William Rikoff; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and neighbors.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper, Kansas.  The service will be live streamed on www.facebook.com/prairierosefuneralhomes and will also be available following the service, here on Lois' obituary page.  A private burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Colby, Kansas.

The family will be holding a memorial service in Colby for Allan and Lois on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Colby Wesleyan Church.
