Obituary

Lois Martin Guenther was born August 24, 1920 at the Kingman Kansas Hospital to Herbert and Hazel (McDaniel) Martin. She graduated from the Sharon High School with the class of 1938 and then went to work for Boeing during World War II.

On February 23, 1943 she was united in marriage to Jack Guenther in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. To this union was born one son, Jack D. and one daughter, Nancy Eloise. Nancy died at birth and Lois' husband, Jack passed away June 3, 1993.

In 1981, Jack and Lois made their retirement home in Attica, Kansas. They both loved gardening and flowers. Many happy hours were spent working in them. Lois also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking, especially cookies. When the grandchildren were small, she was known as the cookie lady on the street. Lois sold Avon for several years. And along with Jack, she operated the J&L Café for quite some time. Lois especially enjoyed her church and when she was able, she participated in any way that she could. God was a very real factor in her life.

Lois had only very recently moved into Attica Long Term Care. She passed away there on January 4, 2018 at the age of 97 years, 4 months, and 11 days. Preceding her in death are her parents, Herbert and Hazel; husband, Jack; daughter, Nancy; and brothers, Maurice and Melvin Martin. She is survived by her son, Jack Guenther and his wife, Linda of Norman, Oklahoma; sister, Phyllis Martin of Attica; brother, Hershel Martin and his wife, Irene of Harper; brother, Vincent Martin and his wife, Marie of Augusta; three grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
