Linda Lou (Walker) VanLoan was born on February 5, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of James Edward and Orril Lou (Fisher) Collins. Wichita is where the family made their home and this is where Linda and her two sisters attended school.
While still in high school, Linda married the love of her life, Bobby Dewitt Walker on March 31, 1962. To this union, three children were born: Shannon, James, and Laura. They lived in multiple towns before settling in Harper, Kansas. Shortly after their 43rd anniversary, Bobby passed away on May 26, 2005.
On April 1, 2012, Linda married Roger VanLoan in Bel Aire, Kansas. After a short time, they moved to Harper. Roger passed away in 2019.
At the young age of 81, Linda passed away peacefully at Patterson Health Center in Anthony, Kansas on September 30, 2026 with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Orril Collins; both husbands; son, James "Jim" Walker; sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Marilyn Powers; and son-in-law, Stephen Gene DeChenne.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Shannon Hamilton (Brad) and Laura DeChenne, both of Harper; daughter-in-law, Kaylin Walker of Harper; grandchildren: Justin Hatfield (Amy), Jenna Ailon, Alyssa Hamilton, Stephen W. DeChenne, Staci DeChenne, Shaun DeChenne, Janae Walker, and Chloe Walker; great-grandchildren: Zoey Hamilton, RaeLynn Hatfield, Aria Ailon, and Gabby Ailon; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2026 at Cross Pointe Christian Church, Harper with Roy Jacobs officiating. Burial follows at the Harper Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to Good Shepherd Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
