Obituary

Linda Sue Sanders was born on May 28, 1953 in Anthony, Kansas to Bunny and Maurita Pearl (Poston) Newsum.  A few moves while very young, her family landed in Harper, Kansas and this is where Linda went to grade school and started at Harper High School.  Her senior year, she and her class transferred to Chaparral High School in 1971 and were the first graduating class.  She went on to attend business college in Wichita, Kansas.

Meeting the love of her life, Linda married Bill Sanders on June 1, 1976 in Anthony, Kansas.  They were blessed with twin boys, Kevin and Christopher, and the family made their home in Harper.  In addition to being a wife and mother, Linda worked outside of the home.  She was a bookkeeper for Harper Advocate for many years.  Later she worked at the grade school before going back to work as a bookkeeper at various businesses in town to include Terry's Auto, Hofmeier's, Ron's TV & Appliance, City of Harper, and SPK Grocery.

A member of the Harper United Methodist Church, Linda enjoyed her lady's bible study on Tuesday mornings.  She was always active in her boys' school activities.  Linda also enjoyed bowling or playing cards, ocean cruises, visiting family in Yuma, Arizona and Lake Bay, Washington, family gatherings, and delivering meals to harvesters.  And we can't go without saying her dogs were very special to her.

After a long battle with cancer and surrounded by family and friends, Linda passed away at home on November 29, 2023 at the age of 70.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Bunny and Maurita Poston; brother, John Haltom; and mother-in-law, Priscilla Sanders.  Linda leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Bill of the home; sons, Kevin and Christopher of Harper; stepfather, Claude Lee; siblings, Charlie Haltom of Lake Bay, Washington and Luanne Bingham (Dave Thatcher) of Danville, Kansas; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
