Leroy Francis Clayton was born May 4, 1940 in Danville, Kansas, son of William L. and Molly Loraine (Hyatt) Clayton.  He attended Corwin Grade School and graduated from Hazelton High School.

On April 15, 1958, Leroy joined the United States Navy.  He served until his honorable discharge on April 4, 1961.

Leroy worked in the Heat and Air Conditioning industry for many years before retiring.  He was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union in Salina and Wichita for more than 30 years.  His hobbies included restoring cars and metal detecting.

On May 2, 2009, Leroy was united in marriage with his longtime companion, Anita Coulter, in Wichita, Kansas.

Leroy passed away June 30, 2022 at his home in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Anita; children:  Dan Clayton, Chad Clayton (Shari), Linda Helmley (Mike), and Mark Keiser (Crystal); siblings: Ray Clayton (Betty), Billy Clayton (Judy), and Anetha Standrich; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony with Pastor Doug Fraley officiating.  Per Leroy's request no viewing or visitation will be held.
