Lee Kent Cooperrider was born December 30, 1949 in Anthony, Kansas at the Galloway Hospital, son of Everrett and Marie (Brown) Cooperrider.  He passed away December 6, 2021 at the age of 71.

Lee attended many schools before settling in Anthony in 1966 when his parents bought the community rest home on south Bluff. He graduated from Anthony High School in 1968.

Lee worked for Santa Fe Railroad after graduation until taking a full-time job working for the State of Kansas Port of Entry in Anthony.

On June 30, 1972 he married Jeaneilla Ann "Jeanie" Blair. He worked full time nights at the Port of Entry and part-time carrying mail, dispatching for Anthony Police Department, drove an activity school bus, took call for the ambulance, and helped Harold Madsen purchase, transport, and repair vehicles.  He was also a driver's license examiner for several years.

Lee and Jeanie were blessed with two sons: Kenton in February 1981 and Kyle in April 1984. After leaving the Port of Entry, he worked at Morrison Belt Company and Legg Company. In 1990, he began his career in sales, traveling for ABC Farmline until 1993, during which time he started his own company, Cooperrider Sales, selling agriculture and industrial products. He teamed up with Bob Hixson and they have been business partners since the 1990's buying "Flat Gard" tire sealant company in June of 1996. It was manufactured, bottled, and shipped from Anthony.

Lee was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, moderator, and music director. He traveled coast to coast and enjoyed going to trade shows, spending time with family, loved being involved in family and church gatherings and activities, and working on old classic vehicles.  He also enjoyed the Donut Shop and discussing the world's problems.

Lee will be deeply missed by his wife, Jeanie; son, Kenton and wife, Annette, and children, Kendie and Kody; son, Kyle and wife, Shelli, granddaughter, Kylee, and Shelli's children; sister, Darla Farnsworth and husband, Robert; niece, Leah McDonald and husband, David, and children, Sean, Laura, Dalton, and Ashlyn; nephew, Nicholas Brown and wife, Rhody, and son, Brock; sister-in-law, Robin Struble and husband, Darrin, and children: Garret and wife, Peyton (children Derrick and Demi), Greg, and Gillian; many other relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Lee was always ready with an opinion on technology and email. He just wouldn't do it and he would inform his business associates that his mail comes to the east side of the house ONLY! And lastly his favorite quotes: "oh gosh," "I don't have time for this," "it is what it is," and "what's next?"

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Anthony with Pastor Warren Stanton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Burchfiel Cemetery, south of Anthony.

Friends may view and register 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
